King Hussein Business Park and Royal Scientific Society sign a Consulting Services agreement for the electricity generation project using photovoltaic solar panels
Amman, October 2017: The Business Park Company, the master developer of the King Hussein Business Park Development Zone (KHBP), signed an agreement with the Royal Scientific Society / National Energy Research Center (NERC), by which NERC will provide consultancy and supervisory services for the electricity generation project to cover the Business Park demand utilizing photovoltaic solar panels. The agreement was signed by Eng. Soud Soror, CEO of the King Hussein Business Park and Eng. Walid Shaheen, Director of the National Energy Research Center.
In line with the agreement, NERC will prepare the technical studies for KHBP electicity generation project using photovoltaic solar panels in light of the current and forecasted electricity demand. NERC will also study and advise on the proposed sites/locations and their suitability for the installation of the PV system, prepare the feasibility study and determine the electrical supply generated by the PV system, in addition to determining the requirements and recommendations for supporting electricity sources.
Eng. Soud Al Soror, CEO of King Hussein Business Park stated that the management of the Business Park is keen to utulize the knowledge and expertise of the specialists in the field of electricity generation using solar photovoltaic cells; represented by the National Energy Research Center of the Royal Scientific Society, for the purpose of assessing the technical and financial requirements and putting together a comprehanesve study and detailed roadmap for the Business Park to be able to tender its electricity generation project using photovoltaic solar panels and and attract investors. He further added that this project will enable the Business Park to benefit from energy saving solutions, transform into an environmentally friendly, solar-powered, smart campus which will in turn reduce the operational costs, enhance the business park capability to attract investments, empower its tenants to further grow, and enhance the competitiveness of the ICT and clean energy sectors towards ensuring a green and sustainable development.
Eng. Walid Shaheen, Director of the National Energy Research Center, stated that such projects contribute to enhancing the energy security of Jordan in terms of reducing the dependence on imported energy. It also contributes to providing a clean environment and green energy, reducing carbon dioxide emissions as well as providing job opportunities to the experts and technicians in the field. Engineer Shahin stressed on the importance of this project, which is part of the renewable energy projects that will contribute to achieving the strategy of renewable energy and energy efficiency for the year 2020. He also thanked the management of the Business Park represented by Eng. Soud Soror for their confidence in the efforts of the National Center for Energy Research / Royal Scientific Society under the leadership of Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint Al-Hassan.
